How It Works

Registration

Regardless of the type of auction, you'll typically need to register as a bidder. This involves providing personal information and agreeing to the auction's terms and conditions. Registration may be done in person for live auctions or online for internet auctions.

Registration

Pay Holding Fees

Once registered, you're ready to start bidding. In a live auction, the auctioneer will announce the starting bid for an item, and participants will compete by raising their paddles or otherwise signaling their bid. In online auctions, you place your bids electronically through the auction platform. Silent auctions often involve writing down your bid on a sheet of paper.

Pay Holding Fees

Price Increments

Auctions have predefined price increments, and each bid must meet or exceed above the previous bid. Request to put bid with responsibility. If you are backing a high bid you will be losing hold fees.

Price Increments

Floor Price

Some items have a floor price, which is the minimum amount the seller expects as a starting bid. If the bidding doesn't reach this seller's expected price, the item may not be sold. The floor price is usually disclosed to bidders.

Floor Price

Auction Ending

Auctions have a set ending time or go through a 'going once, going twice' phase for live auctions. If no new bids are made before the final call, the highest bidder wins the item. In timed auctions, a countdown timer is set, and the highest bid when the timer expires wins. The Highest Bidder will be charged a $250 hold fee. If the highest bidder does not finalize the sale with the seller, they will forfeit the $250 bid deposit fee. In the event that the seller decides not to proceed with the sale, your $250 bid deposit fee will be refunded.
